Combat playtest 29.7.26 - 2 phase simultaneous resolution

    Short Rules Summary:
Combat is a combination card/dice system. Decks of cards are assembled outside of combat based on the weapons, armor, other equipment, and skills of your character. The dice to be used are determined by weapons/equipment, and the rolls are determined by character statistics/levels.

Combat is played in rounds, each representing several seconds and comprising two phases:

Phase 1, all combatants draw 5 cards from their personal decks. They have 3 energy to play their cards, which is done simultaneously and secretly. (Card draw and energy can be modified, but we'll keep it simple at first.). During this phase players can discuss, but cannot name the specific cards they hold.

Phase 2, all played cards are gathered by the gamemaster and arranged in ascending initiative order (which is a marked number on each card, and can vary even between otherwise identical cards). The card effects are then resolved in order.

Cards are generally Attacks, Defends, or Moves, but can have other effects.

Attacks (which are usually effectuated by attack cards) are resolved as a d100 role, which will succeed in a window the bounds of which are determined by the player's skill with their weapon, the attack they played, the opponent's armor, and any defense cards the opponent has played.

Successful attacks usually roll damage (dice dependent on the weapon) and/or apply effects to the opponent (often in the form of cards added to their deck). Damage resistance exists, but is simplified.
