Title: "The relative influence of morphosyntax and phonology on the mutual intelligibility of Norwegian and Danish"

Abstract: Norwegian and Danish are closely related languages and are well-known to have a high degree of mutual intelligibility. The difficulty of comprehension of one of these languages for native speakers of the other is driven by a number of factors: primary amongst these are phonological and morphosyntactic differences. By presenting native Norwegian speakers with audio stimuli constructed variously with Norwegian or Danish phonology and morphosyntax, we perform a statistical analysis of the relative effect of these factors.
